GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

First-semester final examinations for the 2011-12 academic year will be held January 10-12.   Exams will be given according to the following schedule:

RESCHEDULING EXAMS: Students may reschedule exams if they have three in one day. To reschedule, a parent must call or email the teacher of the course for approval. The rescheduled exam must be completed within the three-day exam period. Students seeking to take an exam prior to or after the three-day exam period must contact their counselor, who will coordinate the request with the Student Services Division director.

 

 

BUS SERVICE: Normal bus pick-up times will be in effect before 8 a.m. on exam days. Buses will bring students home after the last exam January 10 and 11, and after the second and third exam periods on January 12. There also will be a late bus run at 1 p.m. January 12 for students taking make- up exams. There will be an athletic bus at 6:30 p.m., but no activity bus each of the three exam days.

 

 

CELL PHONE USAGE: All regular cell phone rules are in effect during final exams. Cell phones and other electronic devices must be off and out of sight in classrooms, in academic hallways during the exam periods, and in all other areas of the school previously identified to students during orientation. Please see your dean if you have questions.

 


OFF-CAMPUS PRIVILEGES: Students without off-campus privileges who do not have a scheduled final exam do not need to sign out before they leave campus. We encourage students to remain on campus to take advantage of resources in the Information and Learning Center. If students leave campus, they will no longer be under the supervision of Stevenson High School.

 

 

CAFETERIA SERVICE: There will be limited cafeteria service on exam days.

 

 

DRIVING/PARKING ON CAMPUS: Students may not drive or park on campus during school hours on final exam days unless they have a valid parking permit for the 3rd marking period. There is a limited number of temporary, one-day parking permits available in Room 2400 for $3 per day. You must purchase these permits at least one day in advance.

 

 

The Testing Center will be open during finals from 7AM until 1PM.  You MUST be signed up in order to take a test.

 

 

West Student Services is hiring Student Aides for all periods second semester.  You may work during either your study hall or free period. Please see Mrs. Peterson in room 2412. This is a paid position.

The first stop as part of our World of Flavors Promotion Series is Italy, and it promises to be full of fun and flavor, featuring some of the most delicious dishes you have ever tasted. From Roman Penne Pasta to Chicken Bruschetta Subs, we are sure our salute to Italy will feature something to satisfy every taste!

 

 

 

COLLEGE/CAREER

Juniors interested in the US Military Academy at West Point – It is that time of year where you can begin the process of applying to the academy. On January 10 candidates who are in their Junior year are able to “open a file” for admission to West Point. At the same time, you will be able to apply to the Summer Leadership Seminar. Come to the College/Career Center for more information.

 

 

Want to learn more about political campaigns?  Internship applications are now being accepted.  Check out the Career Exploration website under College/Career Center or ask Ms. Wilder in Room 1123.

 

 

CLASS/CLUB

 

Seniors with Parking Permit: The end of the 3rd Marking Period is Thursday, January 12. Check your parking permit to avoid consequences for parking when you are not permitted.          The marking periods you are NOT allowed to drive have the numbers punched out on the sticker.  Please note, Port Clinton is also a Senior parking lot. Seniors/Juniors are not allowed to drive/park on campus until 3:25 on school days unless they have a valid parking permit or have purchased a one-day parking permit from the 2400 office.

 

Sophomores:  PLAN results will be distributed & interpreted on January 19 in the Performing Arts Center during 4b, 5b, & 6b.

 

 

Freshmen Band Students need to pick up their PE uniform and lock in the Patriot Superstore before 2nd semester.

 

 

SIT Conference 2012: “All Hands on Tech” — Have you seen the flyers around school?         Now in it’s 12th year across the state, the Students Involved with Technology (SIT) Conference will be held at Stevenson on Saturday, Feb. 18.  This conference is BY students and FOR students….students presenting to one another. This extraordinary event will expose students from grades 3 to 12 to a wide variety of technology experiences and opportunities. To register, visit the SIT website at http://sitconference.org. T-shirts and lunch will be provided. If you’d like to lead a session, you will need an adult sponsor.   Please see Mrs. Chausis in the Link Labs. Don’t delay.  The last day to register is January 18!

 

 

Come cheer on the Girls Basketball team Thursday at 7pm, and support Hoops for Heroes with Students Helping Soldiers.  Wear your Camo T-shirt and Camo the Court! Donations will be accepted for The Heart of a Marine Foundation.
