General Announcements

Seniors with parking permits: We are now in marking period 4. Check your parking permit to avoid consequences for parking when you are not permitted. The marking periods you are NOT allowed to drive have the numbers punched out on the sticker.  Please note, Port Clinton is also a senior parking lot. Seniors and juniors are not allowed to drive or park on campus until 3:25 on school days unless they have a valid parking permit, or have purchased a one-day parking permit in Room 2400.

Sophomores: PLAN results will be distributed and interpreted today in the Performing Arts Center during 4b, 5b and 6b.

Showcase 2012 is calling all artists! Showcase your artistic talent by designing the Showcase 2012 program cover!  The Showcase theme this year is Stevenson’s Got Talent. On January 10 candidates who are in their Junior year are able to “open a file” for admission to West Point. At the same time, you will be able to apply to the Summer Leadership Seminar. SIT Conference 2012: “All Hands on Tech” — Have you seen the flyers around school?         Now in it’s 12th year across the state, the Students Involved with Technology (SIT) Conference will be held at Stevenson on Saturday, Feb. 18.  This conference is BY students and FOR students….students presenting to one another. This extraordinary event will expose students from grades 3 to 12 to a wide variety of technology experiences and opportunities. To register, visit the SIT website at http://sitconference.org. T-shirts and lunch will be provided. If you’d like to lead a session, you will need an adult sponsor.   Please see Mrs. Chausis in the Link Labs. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention all Students – Stressed?  Worried about finals?  Then come to the Student Lounge.  Have some free hot chocolate and candy, make a stress ball, and relax!  We are located next to the CCC and open during all lunch periods and before school 2nd day of the week.  Hope to see you there.

Seniors with Parking Permit: The end of the 3rd Marking Period is Thursday, January 12. Check your parking permit to avoid consequences for parking when you are not permitted.          The marking periods you are NOT allowed to drive have the numbers punched out on the sticker.  Please note, Port Clinton is also a Senior parking lot. Seniors/Juniors are not allowed to drive/park on campus until 3:25 on school days unless they have a valid parking permit or have purchased a one-day parking permit from the 2400 office.

 

 

PSAT scores are available for pick up in room 2414.

 

West Student Services is hiring Student Aides for all periods second semester.  You may work during either your study hall or free period. Please see Mrs. Peterson in room 2412. This is a paid position.

CLASS/CLUB

 

Sophomore Class Board is meeting today, Thursday, and Friday after school in room 2122.  We are working on decorations for Winterfest.  We are always looking for new members.  SCB is a great way to meet new friends, have fun, and earn community service hours.  Please join us.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Ricky in the Link Labs or Mrs. Smith in Green Student Services.

Interested in becoming a PE Leader? Fill out your application today, available online or in room 2108! Applications are due January 6, 2012. Applicants will be selected during the week of January 9, & will be posted at the West Physical Welfare Office.

SHS Kiva Club is selling tickets for S-Factor, a singing competition/fundraiser, all week for $5.    S-Factor is on Friday, January 6, from 6:30-9pm in the West Auditorium

Alternative P.E. Leadership applications are due January 6, right before finals.  Any student interested in a leadership position where they would be asked to lead small groups of students, work 1 on 1 with students, and be a role model in physical education classes, should apply.  Accepted leaders would be working with students who have physical, cognitive, social and emotional disabilities or students who have injuries.

Hey skiers and snowboarders, the Ski and Snowboard Club is going to Cascade this Saturday, and next Saturday we will be heading to Granite Peak.  Money for the Cascade trip is due in the Prep office today.   If you would like to join the club, it is not too late.  Stop by the Prep office for more information.

Origami Club members:  Our 1st meeting of the New Year is today from 3:30-4:30.  As usual, we provide scrumptious snacks and drinks.

Tomorrow is Clothing Project Pride Day!!!  If you have taken a Clothing Construction class tomorrow is your chance to show off your projects!  Choose your favorite project or projects you have made and wear it to school.  Come to room 1424 before school to receive your reward for showing off!!!

Military History Club will meet today at 3:30 in room 2904. Come & watch a great movie & enjoy free snacks with friends. New members are welcome.

Youth and Government-Judicial and Legislative will meet tonight at 6:30pm in room 2904. If you are interested in competing in a statewide competition as an attorney or legislator come to our meeting for more information.
